Sade是我認為是80年代以來極具特色的女主唱之一，也是Sade Adu樂團的靈魂人物，而這個樂團無論是聲音或是曲風，都是相當具代表性的Sophisti-pop樂團。尤其是女主唱－Sade Adu。美貌加上才藝出眾。

Sade Adu於1959年出生於奈及利亞，全名是Helen Folasade Adu。四歲時隨母親返回英國與祖父母同住，後來搬到倫敦就讀聖馬丁藝術學校(Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design)。當一位叫Lee Barrett的唱片經紀人邀請Sade去倫敦的一個正在組建的樂隊擔任主唱時，Sade欣然接受了。這支樂隊名叫Pride，是80年代早期的一支拉丁Funk樂隊。（所以難怪當時的Smooth operator會帶有拉丁爵士的元素^ ^）， Sade音色飽滿，技巧純熟且詞曲都能，很快成為樂隊的靈魂人物。這期間Sade展現出出眾的歌曲創作能力-寫下了她最早的成名單曲"Smooth Operator"（調情聖手）。就是這時期的作品，得到了葛來美獎中的最佳新進藝人獎，也因此受到了唱片公司的矚目。

隨即她退出Pride，走上了單飛的道路，1983年，Sade和Epic Records(SONY旗下的唱片公司)簽下歌手合約，帶著(guitarist and saxophonist Stuart Matthewman, keyboard player Andrew Hale and bassist Paul Denman)，這幾個人成了Sade的班底。

1984年發行首支單曲－Your Love is King(英國單曲排行榜第6名)，並於同年發行首張專輯－Diamond Life(英國專輯排行榜第2名)。Sade的輝煌年代，由此拉開序幕。

Sophisti-pop是Sade一貫堅持的風格。柔滑，平和，充滿爵士味的pop，活躍於20世紀80年代。除了爵士，So phisti-pop藝人們還引進了輕快的pop-soul風格，使用音響合成器來讓音樂更飽滿平滑。雖然這一流派在90年代初就已經漸漸銷聲匿跡，但Sade卻依然故我，在她消失歌壇8年復出後的《Lovers Rock》中可以感覺出Sophisti-pop已經融進了Sade的所有旋律和血液中。

愛LOVE是貫穿Sade所有音樂作品的不變主題，Sade的音樂從來都不缺乏漫溢的情感和溫暖的愛意。她的歌曲是深具柔情與內涵而讓人不自覺的深深吸引。她的音樂是溫暖的，柔軟的，可以讓耳朵，靈魂撫慰的。

今天要介紹的是80年代相當具代表性的女歌手-Sade.她也是我相當喜愛的歌手之一。

《Smooth Operator》是Sade（莎黛）演唱的一首音樂單曲，收錄於專輯《Diamond Life（鑽石人生）》中的主打歌，於1984年發行。

這也是Sade推出的處女作分别獲得了BPI獎”與1985年獲得第27屆葛萊美「最佳新進藝人」獎座，並於1986年成為美國「時代」雜誌的封面人物。而這張專輯在英國排行榜的停留時間更長達98周之久。

其中這首「Smooth Operator」躋進全美流行榜Top 5。

Sade是一位才華洋溢擅長詞曲，Smooth Operator就是她80年代時期的作品。

Sophisti-pop(雅緻流行樂)，出現於80年代，因受歡迎而發展越來越廣，有些加入了靈魂樂的原素，有的甚至還結合搖滾樂等。

Sade所發展出來的是另一種獨特的風格，加入了拉丁爵士元素，聽起來讓人覺得輕鬆舒服的曲風，不過在90年代後期，熱度漸退；只有Sade（莎黛）堅持這種樂風直到現在。個人覺得Sade的曲風是較屬於Sophisti-pop &Jazz。 (很多人把Sade當成靈魂樂團，其實是不太正確的。)

Sade的歌曲至今聽起來依然是如此迷人舒服！
